Treasurer Say hello to our Treasurer, Lisa Belsky! Lisa met our Executive Director, Heather Wirth, in 2010 through the artist collective, Artillery. After learning about the Columbus Artmobile and our mission, Lisa expressed her interest in teaching and was brought on as an instructor for our home school classes. Not long after, she was asked to join the Board of Directors where she is currently the Treasurer.
Lisa graduated from Tyler School of Art with her BFA in ceramics and has been teaching art in summer camps and after school programs for the past 10 years. In 2006, she moved to Ohio and began working towards her MFA, specializing in Ceramics, at The Ohio State University. Since the completion of her Master’s program, Lisa has been working on building her career as a Teaching Artist. She currently teaches continuing education and Saturday Morning Art classes at CCAD, and is also an adjunct instructor at Captial University. You can also find Lisa at the McConnell Art Center in Worthington where she gives lessons in ceramics for adults and children. On top of her teaching career, Lisa works with Lance Thompson creating a retail line of functional ceramic items. You can see what they have to offer and learn more about them at their company’s website, www.simplytangled.com.
Lisa’s main goal for the future of the Artmobile is to have an actual art MOBILE! She believes that an art studio on wheels would provide us with an endless amount of possibilities and opportunities. She plans to work on making that a reality while also building the program and teaching with the Artmobile.
Lisa has three favorite artists (I’m beginning to realize that artists can’t seem to pick just one!), Eva Zeisel, William Morris, and Earnst Haeckel. Clay is her absolute favorite material to work with, but she also loves knitting, crocheting, tatting, and making jewelry. Lately, she has been enjoying watercolor as well.
